Reverse Mirror Dip (Curb View)
When you shift into reverse, the passenger-side mirror automatically tilts down to show the curb — a factory feature on many higher trim levels that's enabled via a single parameter in FEM_BODY or BDC.
1 Prerequisites
Hardware check: Mirrors must be electrically adjustable. This procedure is only possible if your car has power-adjustable mirrors (standard on all F-series and G-series with any options). The mirror dip motor is part of the standard power mirror assembly.
- Electrically adjustable mirrors (power mirrors)
- BimmerCode app with Expert Mode
- Compatible OBD2 adapter
2 Coding Parameters
| Chassis | Module | Parameter | Set To |
|---|---|---|---|
| F10, F30, F32 | FEM_BODY | Spiegel_Absenken_bei_Rueckwaerts | aktiv |
| G20, G30, G05 | BDC | Spiegel_Absenken_Rueckwaertsgang | aktiv |
The dip position is stored from the last manual mirror position. To set the dip angle: shift into reverse, use the mirror adjustment controls to aim the passenger mirror at the curb, then shift out of reverse. The car memorizes this as the dip position.
3 Steps
-
Connect and Expert Mode
Plug OBD2 adapter. BimmerCode → Expert Mode → select FEM_BODY (F-series) or BDC (G-series).
-
Find the mirror dip parameter
Search Spiegel_Absenken. Change the value to aktiv.
-
Code and test
Tap Code. Shift into reverse — the passenger mirror should tilt down to show the curb view.
-
Calibrate the dip position
While in reverse: use the mirror selector switch to select the passenger mirror, then use the mirror adjustment joystick to aim it at the curb/rear wheel area. Exit reverse — position is memorized.
4 Driver Mirror Option
Some builds also have Spiegel_Absenken_Fahrer (driver-side dip). This is less useful since you're sitting on that side and can already see the curb, but it exists and follows the same logic.
